Alix Rule earned her PhD in Sociology from Columbia in 2017. Her dissertation, Standpoints on Psychiatric Deinstitutionalization, focused on the end of the mental hospital system in the United States, and the social movement that advocated for it. Her work on climate change at Institute for Public Knowledge reflects her ongoing interest in the way that the organization of the social world shapes and reshapes the meaning of action. She was a Berggruen Fellow for 2017-2018.
