Leah Willemin
Leah Willemin is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of craft, technology, and performance. Her practice draws on digital fabrication, ecology, and material histories to create systems and interfaces that weave together biology, human consciousness, and machine behavior. As a Berggruen Research Fellow, Leah is tracing the history of the machine, examining how the concept of a machine has shifted through history and how technology and machines have informed philosophy of mind. Prior to joining the Berggruen Institute, Leah taught creative coding and digital fabrication in the Design and Technology programs at Parsons, where she also earned her MFA. Her MFA thesis, a durational performance, addressed data collection and predictive algorithms as they affect embodiment and the self.
