Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come. The challenges that inspired the creation of the institute have only become more urgent overtime: the crisis of democratic governance; the growing inequality exacerbated by the digital age; the emergence of China upending the post-war global order; the planetary crisis of climate change. These challenges force us to reconsider the foundational ideas that our contemporary institutions embody, including what it means to be human. These challenges and the questions they provoke have become the pillars of our work.
