Nominations

In addition to reviewing nominations received from the general public, jurors are encouraged to nominate diverse candidates worthy of consideration. Self-nominations and posthumous nominations are not accepted.

Selection Criteria

Jurors must balance multiple criteria, including: intellectual rigor and quality, substantial lifetime achievement and body of work, originality of ideas, and public impact with diverse, global reach.

Timeline

The Berggruen Prize Laureate is typically announced in the fall, with a special ceremony held in the spring or summer of the following year.
